Reflexology

Reflexology

The body removes toxin buildup through the lymphatic and excretory systems. When these systems are blocked, the body does not function efficiently. Reflexology helps the body to relax, unblock channels and improve efficiency of bodily functions.

Reflexology is a focused pressure treatment of hands and feet. It originated in Egypt and is widely used in Europe today. Native Indians believed that our feet are in contact with the energies within the Earth and that healing can be achieved through the hands and feet.

The zones of treatment on the hands and feet correspond to various parts, glands and organs of the body. Deposits that feel like sandy or gritty areas can develop under the skin and can block the body’s natural flow of energy. When direct pressure is applied to hands or feet, reflexes are stimulated and the body’s natural electrical energy works on the nervous system to clear any blockages in the corresponding areas.

Manipulating certain reflexes can reduce stress. This release of stress leads to improved circulation and allows the body to return to a resting state or “homeostasis”. Homeostasis is the “automatic” process the body uses to return the body to its natural or normal state.

Reflexology is used in conjunction with other forms of therapy to supplement ongoing medical treatments. It has been known to help clients deal with the side effects of cancer treatment. Reflexology is safe for everyone.

Many private Health Plans in Canada do cover reflexology treatments.
This is dependant upon each individual Health Plan.

Length of treatment can vary between 30 to 60 minutes per session for both feet. Some clients may even fall asleep during treatment.

How does it work?

Reflex massage brings soothing effects to the muscles and nervous relief. Pressure applied at a certain point or nerve ending creates a sensation at another point on the body. These two points are connected. In effect, massaging the corresponding nerve ending can treat the corresponding body part. This is the basis of reflexology.

What are the benefits?

My work is very stressful and I need to have reflexology once every two weeks.
I listen to the classic music during the treatment and I almost fall asleep.
It is very relaxing.I feel like a new born!!!
